Amber Lynn Holman ( Nowak )
Amber Lynn, daughter of Patricia Boothe and David Nowak, was the first great grandchild for the Staat's.. She was born in Minnesota.. in the Minneapolis area 1968. It was a trip home her first Christmas that was so important.. so all could see that first baby.. that made a lot of Staat relatives "Greats"
This was Amber's Great Great Aunt Annie (Cihak). It was a hugging and holding kind of Christmas that year.. as this new litle one was the first of a new generation on the "Staat" side of the family.
Then there was Great Grandma Staat who could'nt get enough of that little girl, that holiday week-end.
Then Great Uncle Mel Staat who was as proud as could be.
And of course her Grandma Vicky Kass.. thought she was a charmer.

Dear Bruce.. your passing will not be handled lightly by your family. You will be missed.
Younger Days..

Patricia Ann Boothe (nee McDougall)
Well it was not hard to find baby pictures .. however the quality not so good! But it's a fair collection..

Born in St Louis.. my only early memories were living with my Mom and Grandma, Grandpa and for a short while my Uncle Melvin. A small house in SW St Louis that had a backyard, garage, alley.. and rooms that I remember down to details. I lived in that house until I was 6.
Amazing our early memories..!
This is my mom.. Vicky McDougall. Kass. (nee Staat)
My Grandma and Grandpa Staat and me.
This my Great Aunt Anna.. (Annie) I had 2 other Great Aunts.. however there was a lot of dis-owning that went on with my Grandma's side of the family.. and the other great aunts Hilda and Fredia Kraus were in and out of my early years. But that is a story for another time!.
All and all I found that my early years as I remember them were perfect.
Oh.. before there was me, there was them:
And in another entry I will reveal what I have been told.. about their short life as a couple.Wednesday, March 31, 2010
Matthew Ryan Nowak
Matthew.. is the other twin. Son of Jeffrey Nowak and Sonja Mathias, grandson of Patty and Bob Boothe. There's a story here.. but I will leave that for another time.. this entry is about Matthew.
Matthew is a few minutes younger than his twin Megan.. and while her personality often outshines Mattie.. you need only to look at those bright blue eyes and infectious smile to see he is a quiet charmer..
Mattie doesn't rush into situations.. He observes, analyzes the situation, then makes a decision to participate or not.
But when he decides to be apart of any activity.. he can shine.
How fun it is to have a set of twins in the family. Observing their unique personalities since they were born has been a real experience. They surely are a precious gift.

Megan Renee Nowak
Just a tad over 2 pounds she was ready to take all that the world had to offer..
I love this picture.. the nurse suggested we take. She will never believe she was this small.
Meggie holding Grandma Patty's wedding ring.. in her hand.

Simply amazing the twins were so small.. and now we are so blessed that they are healthy
and growing like weeds..
Conrad William Kass ( Mothers Resting Place..)
Here is a photo that Dad actually took of his father..
They were visiting Conrad W Kass mothers grave.. at St Matthews Cemetery on Bates Street in South St Louis. The reason for the visit was to sign the papers to have the grave moved to another part of the cemetery.
More mysteries !

He is standing over the grave.. it had a flat stone and that does not show in the picture.
In the background you can see the homes on Morganford. The street was to be widened and this grave would be re-located. St. Matthews has an office, maybe a trip would be instore to look up this grave site.. To find her first name and date of birth..
Conrad William Kass
This is Dad's ( Conrad Jr. ) father.. We don't know too much but there are a few details.
I love the following Photo Postcard. The back is as interesting as the front if you are looking for some history.
On the map guide of St Louis in the mid 1800's.. This part of Broadway was originally named Carondelet and it ran all the way from downtown to the Jefferson Barracks. This same street running north from the city was called Broad. In 1886 the city changed the whole road both north and south to Broadway.
Here are some historic maps of St Louis in the 1800's
Kind of fun to look at to see what St Louis looked like when our ancestors lived here..

The back of the post card.. tells the photographer and where they were located.
A knowledgeable person.. gave us the dates. So the above photo would have been taken in 1888 in the Charles F Meier Portraits studio at 1406 South Broadway in St Louis.
Currently that address is about 2 blocks North from Soulard Market. There is a trucking company there now. On the map guide of St Louis in the mid 1800's.. Theresa Elizabeth Kass (nee Migineron)
Here is a college of Grandma Theresa Kass.. the photo in the upper left corner of the college was taken when Conrad was about 5 years old..
With old photos sometimes you can just make up stories.. and often they are better than real life. Don't you love the leggings Dad was wearing.. ?
The following is a photo which has suffered some wear.. but I thought it was worth putting with this collection
That is Dad on the left.. (Conrad) and unfortunately
Dad did not remember who the little girl was.. He guessed it was a neighbor. With old photos sometimes you can just make up stories.. and often they are better than real life. Don't you love the leggings Dad was wearing.. ?
Megan Renee Nowak
Meggie is the daughter of Jeff Nowak .. who is the son of Patty Boothe.. step son of Bob Boothe.
Meggie.. is a twin. Her twin brother is Matthew.
Her older brother is Shaye Nowak ..and Mom is Sonja.
She is a doll...
Tyler Eric Kass
Tyler is now 2 1/2 years old.. the son of Jason and Mary Kass..
The following photos were taken during a visit home (St Louis).. to Aunt Heathers House
Conrad Kass Younger College
This a photo collection of Dad.. Conrad Kass in his youth..
I do not have a baby photo.. but the following photo was take when he was 5...
This one was taken 1922.. which would have also been when he was 5..
I believe that the one above was just marked incorrectly.. he looks younger.
The following photo.. has the description on the back..
Simply: Me and Dog. Hudson 8 with powerdome.
It might have been nice to know the name of the dog in the photo. But at least we know the make and model of the car.
Vicky Kass.. (nee Staat) 1st marriage McDougall
Here is a college of Mom.. from 6 months to about 34 years..
While it doesn't show in this B & W Photo she had beautiful blue eyes..
A secret shared most recently before she passed.. She entered the service to run away from an engagement with a boy from her neighborhood. Everyone was sure she was making the right decision to marry.. except her ! So she ran away and joined the service.
She did marry a beau ( Laurel McDougall ) she met in the service.. and lived for a while in Seattle, Washington. Concieved a baby girl.. before that marriage ended when she was 23 years old.
She was 34 years old when she met and married Conrad Kass.. and a new branch of family began.
April.. 1957
